Founded in 1925, Bethlehem Catholic High School is a Roman Catholic, co-ed, secondary school in the Diocese of Allentown. This full time or part time teaching position includes daily music instruction for concert band, marching band, and other ensembles at the high school level. The band director will be responsible to plan and organize the marching band, concert band, and other ensembles for performances throughout the year. Candidates must possess knowledge of marching band techniques, drill-writing, musical arrangement, conducting, and the ability to provide instrumental instruction. The marching band will perform an on-field halftime show for all football games, post season games, school and community events. Concert band will conduct performances throughout the year.
The band director’s critical responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
-Provide instrumental instruction for a variety of ensembles while assessing students’ musical progress while adapting instruction to fit the needs demonstrated through adequate assessment
-Conduct the concert band and provide quality musical instruction and hold performances throughout the year
-Schedule and hold marching band camp prior to the school year to provide critical skill development for all aspects of a marching band
-Design and implement a marching band halftime show that showcases the students’ abilities, while growing the ensemble
-Under the general supervision of the building administration; communicate and collaborate with assistant directors, volunteers, and the band parent association to organize, plan, and implement ensemble performances and events
-Hold daily rehearsals and instruction
-Possess quality and effective communication skills
-Perform at all designated school and community events
-Create and maintain ensemble rehearsal and performance calendar
-Maintain a grading system ensuring accurate reporting of grades and attendance for all students
-Obtain requisition quotes for all music related needs
-Complete all required paperwork, forms, and policies related to field trips, band trips, or other events
-Ensure student conduct adheres to school policy and expectations and that student behavior is conducive to a quality learning environment
-Maintain a professional environment in accordance with school policy and expectations
Bethlehem Catholic High School is currently accepting applications for a full-time Advanced Biology Teacher needed for the 2021-2022 school year.
