Agape Service Program
Agape Service Program
WHAT IS AGAPE?
Agape is a Greek word that refers to the highest form of love that one can offer to God and neighbor. It is the kind of love that our Lord Jesus called his disciples to and modeled for us on the Cross. It involves total self-gift and a willingness to sacrifice for the authentic good of the other. In the spirit of agape and after the example of Christ our Savior, our Golden Hawk family is called to serve our Church, local communities, and world with compassion, joy, mercy, and selfless love.
WHY SERVICE?
At Bethlehem Catholic High School, we recognize and take seriously the call to serve in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We seek to encourage opportunities for our students to go beyond the classroom and take what they learn into the community. Through the sharing of their time and talent, students will work in the name of the Lord to bring hope and healing to those in need. For our Bethlehem Catholic community, service is not something you do; it’s something you live.
SERVICE REQUIREMENTS
To inspire our students to live out this beautiful mission in their daily lives, the Agape Service Program requires each Bethlehem Catholic student to complete a minimum of 15 hours of service per year. In the spirit of agape, students are encouraged to find service opportunities that engage them in the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. Additionally, Bethlehem Catholic’s Campus Ministry offers a variety of service opportunities throughout the year to help students live and grow in charity.
All of the Agape Service Program requirements, including guidance on which activities will and will not be accepted as service, can be found in Agape Service Program Handbook, which is linked below. We ask that all students, parents, and guardians take time to review the Agape Service Program Handbook thoroughly to ensure that all requirements are met each year.
