Ms. Jennifer DeMarco holds an Associate degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Penn State University, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a concentration in Biology from Kutztown University and is currently three credits away from her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Kutztown University.
Ms. DeMarco has been teaching at BECA since January of 2003. She has taught Honors Biology, general Biology and Environmental Science. At her request there were honors sections added to Environmental Science in 2009. Ms. DeMarco currently teaches the general and honors Environmental Science courses at BECA.
Ms. DeMarco also started the EcoClub at BECA which she is the moderator. Eco Club has been involved in roadside clean-ups, school-wide recycling program, participated in Lehigh County Envirothon competitions and held educational field trips to the Philadelphia Zoo and Nurture Nature center. Most recently the EcoClub received grant money from the Lehigh Gap Nature Center to plant a garden of native plants in our courtyard to be used for educational purposes. EcoClub is also in the process of working with the Monocacy Farm Project to educate and promote organic farming practices, natural agriculture and Permaculture principles. This project will provide students with hands-on experience in organic gardening, Permaculture design and community sustained agriculture. The project also provides on-going educational programs as well as workshops and retreats.
